Gift Cards & Customer Loyalty Programs
Loyalty works when it's effortless. A punch card requires the customer to remember, carry and present it — three chances to fail. Loyalty tied to the card or the phone number used at checkout just happens, which is why enrollment and redemption rates aren't remotely comparable.
What this includes
- Physical and digital gift cards with enforced balances
- Loyalty tied to the card or phone number at checkout
- Points, visit-based and spend-based structures
- Automatic rewards and birthday offers
- Promotional campaigns by email or text
- Customer purchase history at the register
- House accounts and store credit
- Program performance reporting
The honest version
Two practical notes. First, gift card balances are a liability on your books, not revenue — we'll set up the reporting so you can see outstanding balances rather than being surprised. Second, loyalty pays off most for frequency businesses: cafés, bars, salons, convenience. For a furniture store, the same money is usually better spent elsewhere, and we'll tell you so.

Industries we do this for
Gift Cards & Loyalty Programs: common questions
Do loyalty programs actually work?
For frequency businesses, yes — coffee, bars, salons, convenience, quick service. For low-frequency, high-ticket businesses the return is much weaker and we'll usually recommend against it rather than sell it to you.
Can we sell gift cards online as well as in store?
On most platforms yes, with a shared balance so a card bought online redeems at the register.
How do customers enroll without slowing down the line?
Usually a phone number at checkout, or automatically by the card they pay with. Both take seconds. Anything that requires filling out a form at the counter will not get adopted.
Are gift card balances a liability?
Yes — unredeemed balances are money you owe, not money you've earned. We set up the reporting so you can see outstanding balances, and it's worth a conversation with your accountant about how to treat them.
